George Bowering is a fiction writer and poet, among other things. He had published a trio of historical novels set in British Columbia, and three actual history books concerned with Canadian subjects. He lives in West Point Grey with his wife the polymath Jean Baird. In the Fall of 2011 he published Diamond Alphabet, meditations on baseball, and How I Wrote Certain of my Books, the title of which was purloined from Raymond Roussel. In the spring of 2012 he will publish Pinboy, a novel whose publisher will market as a memoir, and who knows? He could be right.
